At any moment, a new tune that has been slowly percolating in the back of my mind will really begin to take shape and seize control of my being. As a result, for the next little while, I will slip into somewhat of a composer’s trance and hope that my wife and kids don’t communicate any of life’s vital details.
Writing, performing, listening and teaching music drive who I am every minute of every day… it’s a wonderfully wild ride.
And so, with this being the backdrop of my life, I am thrilled to announce the launch of my custom songwriting business, Tribute Tunes. I have been writing custom songs for bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, retirement parties, and corporate events for more than a decade. Now, I am proud to have a venue to showcase some of these tunes, and put a formal storefront on some of my most rewarding work.
So, you can imagine how psyched I was when—just a week after the launch of TributeTunes.com—a good friend emailed me the link to the New York Times Style Section Article, With an Original Score, I Thee Wed. At the very moment my venture went live, the nirvana of news engines officiated that custom songs for special events are entirely on-trend.
The article echoes what I have seen to be true in all of the custom songs I have written. More than a physical gift, a custom song is timeless and can be revisited for years to come, conjuring up memories, good feelings, tears and so much joy,
It’s an opportunity to create a piece of art that can be part of the family legacy…Almost a musical heirloom.
And so, with the New York Times paving the way, I thank you for joining me at the start of the Tribute Tunes journey. Our first stop is producing a custom rap song for an amazing young man brought to us by the wonderful montage maker Jennifer DelAngelo from Caramel Studios. Stay tuned to the blog for his debut!
